Making your choice - the guide
Guidance Pages
In developing this guidance we have taken Aviva’s ‘base case’ of what could happen and then we have changed some of the components for comparison purposes
The components which we vary in illustrating what your future special distributions could look like are:
- the value of potential special distributions
- how long policyholders keep their policies
- the level of future sales of new with-profits policies by Aviva. (For an explanation of why the level of sales of new policies is important please see page 20 of this guide)
The guidance for group 1 is straightforward.
The guidance for group 3 is relatively straightforward against the ‘base case’.
For groups 2 and 4 we show different possible outcomes when we make changes to the factors that affect whether there might be special distributions in the future and how large they might be.
Please note that:
- we have looked at future situations where the offer might turn out to be less attractive. For example, we show one column where the possible amounts of special distributions are 25 per cent higher in each year in which they occur. We then show when that change might lead to those special distributions being the same as or more than the offer you are being made by Aviva.
- the guidance tables show forecasts against a range of values of estate. The figure of £1.57 billion relates to the estate as at 31 December 2008 including an estimated Aviva post year-end adjustment.
