107) What is the policyholder advocate and why do we need one?
While the Financial Services Authority (FSA) will, as the regulator of the UK insurance industry, consider the interests of policyholders in any proposed reattribution by Aviva, it is difficult for them to act as a negotiator on behalf of policyholders. This is why the FSA recently introduced rules requiring an individual to be appointed as "policyholder advocate" to protect the interests of policyholders in negotiations with the company proposing the reattribution.
